ONLINE HOME COMPOSTING MASTER WORKSHOPS

The 2022 Spring home composting master workshops will be both streamed online and possibly in-person at an outdoor location in Carlsbad.
These workshops are approximately 3 hours long and they include interactive style presentations and demonstrations, composting supplies raffles and supporting educational resources. The content of the curriculum contains: 1. Introduction to the basic science of compost 2. Introduction to basic home composting approaches 3. Basics of Vermicomposting lecture & home Vermicomposting bin system set-up demonstration 4. Basics of Yard Composting lecture & home Yard Composting bin system set-up demonstration 5. CITY SUBSIDIZED
HOME COMPOSTING SUPPLIES As part of the Carlsbad Home Composting Program, Carlsbad residents may purchase ONE subsidized vermicomposting bin and ONE subsidized yard waste compost bin. THE NUMBER OF THE SUBSIDIZED BINS ARE LIMITED, AND THEY ARE AVAILABLE ON A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED BASIS. Due to the recent local, state and national situation the subsidized composting supplies are available for delivery only. In addition the the supplies subsidized by the City of Carlsbad's Sustainable Materials Management Division, please check other composting bin models and vermicomposting worms available also.
UNFORTUNATELY WE EXHAUSTED THE SUBSIDY FOR THIS FISCAL YEAR AND WE CANNOT SELL THESE BINS AT SUBSIDIZED PRICES!

HOME COMPOSTING HOW-TO VIDEOS
We created short and easy to watch how-to videos on home composting approaches for Carlsbad residents that cannot make it to our scheduled Home Composting Master Workshops, and past program participants that need a refresher on the workshop content. You can find other home sustainability how-to videos on Carlsbad Sustainability Youtube Channel also, such as Seed Starting and Making Quick Pickles. We also typed the instructional content for each video and are working on uploading it with pictures also by August 2021.
